Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has taken a significant step in the legislative landscape by signing into law a bill aimed at amending the Imo State Polytechnic law, No.15 of 2012.

The bill, initially presented by the State House of Assembly through its Majority Leader, Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi, has been subject to meticulous scrutiny and deliberation before reaching this pivotal moment.

The impetus for the amendment stemmed from the executive's proposal, championed by Rt. Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi, who represents Owerri West State Constituency.

Following its introduction, the bill traversed the legislative process, including readings and referrals to pertinent committees for detailed assessment.

Notably, the bill underwent its second reading during a plenary session held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, before being referred to the House Committee on Education, chaired by Hon. Henry Agbasonu, representing Ezinihitte State Constituency.

The committee's meticulous examination culminated in recommendations presented to the House during the resumed sitting on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Under the stewardship of Speaker Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, the bill received its third reading, marking the final stage before enactment.

This legislative milestone underscores the commitment of the Imo State Government to fostering institutional development and ensuring alignment with contemporary educational standards.
